Tornado kills 2; major damage in Wadena

The Polk County sheriff is reporting Minnesota's second death from a series of tornadoes that have ripped through the state. Bones Seasons 1-5 DVD Box Set
The sheriff's department says a man was killed when a twister hit the Cenex station in Mentor, in northwest Minnesota.

An elderly woman was killed and her husband was taken to the hospital when a tornado destroyed their home in Almora, a small town of about 20 people, said Otter Tail County Emergency spokesman David Hauser. At least three people were injured, he said.
"This house the deceased couple lived in, it does not exist any more. It's absolutely gone," said Jeff Hage, editor of The Daily Journal of nearby Fergus Falls. Debris including shingles and pieces of buildings littered the town. Several large trees were uprooted. bones seasons 1-5
“We know that there are several other people who were injured,” Hauser said.
Several tornados touched down in the county along a 20-mile swath running from Almora to Bluffton and then into Wadena County, Hauser said. At least eight to 10 homes were destroyed, he said. Wadena was among the hardest hit by high winds. There are reports of damage to the Wadena High School and reports of gas leaks, downed buildings and scattered debris.

"There's a lot of damage," said Joanne Ostlund, who works in the Wadena city offices and was waiting out the storm with co-workers. "My garage and shed are gone and one of our neighbors lost an entire farmsite." bones box set
The storm that crashed into Wadena tore up about a 10-block residential area, ripping up old oak and elm trees, tearing off roofs and damaging buildings. “It’s a whole different horizon now,” said Randy Mohs, who drove through town after the storm. bones dvd
The building that housed Leaf River Ag Service is pretty well leveled and an old two-story house that boarded students who attend the nearby vocational community college was destroyed, he said. bones dvd
“It’s cork-screwed across the street. It’s twisted like a candy wrapper,” Mohs said. “There are a lot of sirens, ambulances, police. There are helicopters flying. … It’s a mess.”

“My brother’s farm is pretty much gone,” she said. “The barns are gone. The house is damaged.”
Hill and her husband tried to reach her brother’s farm but roads were blocked. Then she tried to check on her sister in Wadena, but entrances to the town were blocked.
“The roads are filled with debris — 2-by-4s, metal from buildings, power lines,” she said. “We have no electricity. No telephone service. It was bad. It will be a while before recovery happens.” bones dvd set
The Douglas County Sheriff reports officers are helping respond to several injuries in Otter Tail County, but Ostlund said she wasn't sure whether there were any injuries in Wadena, which sits on the border between Otter Tail and Wadena counties.
The storm, which hit the area at about 4 p.m., was on its way out about 90 minutes later.
"It's starting to get clear here," Ostlund said. "But there are more clouds in the distance."
A trained spotter reported a funnel cloud in Stearns County at about 5:30 p.m.
Shingles and other debris were scattered in the streets of downtown Wadena, and much of the area was without power, said an employee at The Uptown restaurant, which was planning to serve dinner regardless. bones season 5 release date
Hail up to 4 inches in diameter was also reported in nearby Douglas County. Hail dominated reports across southern Minnesota, with a report of 2 ½ -inch stones near Fairfax, about 100 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Bone dvd box set
