New view about the office, 30 rock .....

Rob Lowe has been promoted to series regular on Parks and Recreation, which is still on track to return at midseason.
-NBC Entertainment president Angela Bromstad reported that Greg Daniels and Paul Lieberstein, executive producers of The Office dvd, have an idea about how to replace Michael Scott after Steve Carell leaves the show at the end of the season. "There are story lines in place, and there's going to be a little mystery leading up to that," Bromstad hinted. She reaffirmed the strength of the ensemble cast, pooh-poohing suggestions that the show should end when Carell departs. "I couldn't go home and face my 14-year-old son if The Office dvd box set went off the air," she said.
-Allen Coulter (The Sopranos seasons 1-6), who directed the pilot of Nurse Jackie 2 release, has taken the reins of the first episode of Law & Order: Los Angeles, which now stars Terrence Howard, Alfred Molina, Skeet Ulrich and Corey Stoll.
-The network has renewed its development deal with Film 44 (aka Peter Berg's production company), which will oversee the remake of the BBC drama Prime Suspect.
-Taking a cue from Tina Fey's comedy roots, 30 Rock on dvds will stage a live episode on Oct. 14.
-Bromstad says she understands the skepticism surrounding The Event in the wake of FlashForward's cancellation, but also expressed confidence in the show's pilot script — and its planned direction. "[The pilot script] was so compelling. Even though it was very complex, it was also very clear," she said.
So Many series will be began, so wonderful.

The Big Bang Theory: Will Sheldon Get Lucky?

Speaking to the press today at the TCA (Telvision Critics Association) press tour about The Big Bang Theory moving to Thursday nights this fall, co-creatorChuck Lorre admitted he wasn't exactly excited when he heard the news from CBS – but noting the show's success, he added, "Given where we are after three seasons, I'd be crazy to argue with them."
Speaking about currently storylines on the show, Lorre spoke about Leonard and Penny breaking up and remarked that given what different people they are, "It seemed natural that they would come together, then fall apart… but maybe come together again." Similarly, Kaley Cuoco said she felt it was "Super realistic" to have them break up, noting, "I think it was perfect timing. You never know what's going to happen with them."
Who and what is this little dog that has forced his way by leaps and bounds from Boston town to the uttermost parts of this grand country, from the broad Atlantic to the Golden Gate, and from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico? Nay, not content with this, but has overrun the imaginary borders north and south until he is fast becoming as great a favorite on the other side as here, and who promises in the near future, unless all signs fail, to cross all oceans, and extend his conquests wherever man is found that can appreciate beauty and fidelity in man's best friend...

Leaked War Files Expose Identities of Afghan Informants

Hundreds of Afghan lives have been put at risk by the leaking of 90,000 intelligence documents to WikiLeaks because the files identify informants working with NATO forces.
In just two hours of searching the WikiLeaks archive, The Times of London found the names of dozens of Afghans credited with providing detailed intelligence to U.S. forces. Their villages are given for identification and also, in many cases, their fathers' names. frasier dvd box set
U.S. officers recorded detailed logs of the information fed to them by named local informants, particularly tribal elders.
Julian Assange, the Australian founder of WikiLeaks, claimed on Monday that all the documents released through his organisation had been checked for named informants and that 15,000 such documents had been held back.
The Afghan Government has reacted with horror to the volume of information contained in the files. frasier dvd

we fight over finance

When I started doing research for this column, asking what sorts of money fights people have, every single couple said the same thing:” well, we don’t really fight about money.” Right, right, right, I’d have to say, backing away from the flame and lies. “but we all have the occasional childish squabble, right?” Even that people hesitate. “well ….maybe,” they’d say.One woman described how her husband took away her credit card one day. Not that they fought about it. Or take another couple I know. I was at their hose recently when the husband came home from work with a new dm set. He hadn’t planned to drop $500 dollars on drums that day, he explained, as he unloaded the car, he just saw a classified as and thought, why not? Although his wife appeared clam while I was there, she told me later that they had a long discussion about the fact that they had agreed to save money to buy a house – never mind their long planned trip to Europe this summer- and why did he have to by a drum set now? What we have here is a failure to communicate.“it’s a fairly common fight, and it usually happens because the two people involved aren’t on the same page,” says a financial planner. “one person thinks they have a shared goal of saving for a house, car or retirement, and the other doesn’t.”In fact, most fights occur not because of the amount of money spent but because of unspoken expectations that couples have and are often afraid to talk about. Sometimes it’s clashing style, sometimes mismatched agendas, but people get so rooted in their own money view that they can’t see that partner simply has a different perspective. the sopranos dvd box set

Possible storm heads for Gulf

dexter dvd
The government granted BP another day to continue tests Tuesday on a cap plugging the massive Gulf of Mexico oil leak as forecasters warned that a line of Caribbean storms could head into the Gulf after the weekend.
Retired Coast Guard admiral Thad Allen said government and BP scientists believe that an oil seep on the seafloor 1.8 miles from the blowout was coming from another well. They have identified five small leaks of gas closer to the damaged well, but those are not considered "consequential," Allen said.
It is also likely BP will attempt to start the process of finally sealing the blowout by pumping heavy drilling mud into the well from the top, said Allen and BP Senior Vice President Kent Wells.
"If it's approved, it's a 100% chance we'll go ahead with it," Wells said.
Teams of government scientists, BP engineers and academics are poring over the proposal to gradually pump the heavy mud into the capped well. If such an effort were successful, it could make it easier for a relief well to cement and permanently seal the rogue well at more than 17,000 feet below sea level, according to Allen and Wells.
An earlier attempt at a "top kill" failed because the mud could not push back the intense geyser of oil and gas gushing from deep within the Earth. However, with the flow finally halted, it is more likely that gradually pumping mud could prove successful, they said.
The weather has been mostly favorable this summer as the oil giant scrambles to end one of the nation's worst environmental disasters, which has now spanned more than three months and dumped more than 90 million gallons of oil in the Gulf. But there is a growing chance that could change in coming days.
The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday revised its forecasts and said that the storm headed toward Florida has a 60% chance of strengthening to an organized tropical depression. Weather Channel meteorologist Mark Ressler said forecast models cannot yet say whether it would strengthen into a stronger storm.
Even a tropical depression, with winds below 40 mph, could disrupt cleanup efforts and push oil toward shore.
Forecasts call for the storm to reach Florida with thunder, lightning and gusty winds by the weekend and then head west into the Gulf, he said. grey's anatomy

Barefoot Run Ends in Bahamas

His ride ended the way it began: shoes off, in the islands. Just not his islands. This time, Colton Harris-Moore, the tall teenager accused of being the “Barefoot Bandit” who once hopscotched the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest riding stolen speedboats and airplanes, Facebook fame and boundless gumption, crash-landed in the Bahamas. And this time, he was caught.
Early Sunday, after Mr. Harris-Moore had fled across the continent, the police in the Bahamas arrested him after they shot out the engines on his stolen boat and roared up beside him in open waters in the middle of the night. It had been more than two years since he had vanished from a halfway house in the Seattle suburbs in 2008 and begun eluding repeated efforts to track him in the dense forests of the Northwest.
American authorities said it could have been the success of Mr. Harris-Moore’s trek itself — making it all the way to the Bahamas — that ultimately led to his downfall.
“It was inevitable that he would make a wrong move. He was in a different culture. He probably stood out,” Sheriff Bill Cumming of San Juan County in Washington said of Mr. Harris-Moore. Now 19, he is 6-foot-5 and white.
While Mr. Harris-Moore had thousands of followers on Facebook — and his mother has hired a prominent entertainment lawyer to field proposals about his tale — his victims saw little romance in his spree.
“It was always in the back of your mind, you’re kind of wondering, when’s the next one coming?” said Scott Lancaster, who owns a hardware store on Orcas Island, Wash., that the police believe Mr. Harris-Moore burglarized twice, once stealing bolt cutters and $4,000. “It’s a bit unsettling. We were all locking our doors and we never had before.”
By the time the sun came up on Sunday, Mr. Harris-Moore was shackled and wearing a bulletproof vest as he was escorted to jail. His feet were still bare on the hot Caribbean concrete.
A statement by the Royal Bahamas Police Force noted that their search “lasted for all but seven days.” Joel Lewis, 73, a cabdriver in Nassau, was at the airport when Mr. Harris-Moore was brought in by police airplane from Eleuthera. “I was asking, ‘What are all these police doing all over the place?’ Then I hear it’s just for one guy!” he said. “He wouldn’t raise up his head at all. He was walking with it down.”
Mr. Lewis said the plane was met by local police who boarded the plane and chained Mr. Harris-Moore. Mr. Harris-Moore was wearing short pants and shuffling with shackles around his ankles and handcuffs behind his back.
He is due in court in Nassau on Tuesday. He faces dozens of charges in the United States, including a federal warrant on charges of stealing a plane last fall in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
The authorities in Washington had spent two years tracking Mr. Harris-Moore, after they linked him to scores of crimes in the San Juans and nearby, from stealing cash and tools to speedboats and small airplanes, which they say he repeatedly crashed.
This spring, the police believed they had Mr. Harris-Moore surrounded in the Turtleback Mountain area of Orcas Island. Sheriff’s deputies were joined by dog teams and helicopter pilots from the Department of Homeland Security.
“He was seen,” Sheriff Cumming said. “But it’s very, very rugged and very difficult to cover all that area extensively and completely. He was able to elude, and that was frustrating and expensive.”
Sheriff Cumming, who is retiring this year, said the search had affected his agency’s budget, in part because the department had to pay overtime to its 20 officers, who patrol four major islands and many more smaller ones. It was that search that appears to have prompted a series of boat and plane thefts that led Mr. Harris-Moore far beyond his Northwest comfort zone.
Last month, a South Dakota family was reportedly startled to find a man believed to be Mr. Harris-Moore in their home, naked. Once again, he slipped away.
“This was his full-time job,” Sheriff Cumming said. “He was not a casual fugitive. This was what he did on a full-time basis, and we do give him credit in terms of his ability to plan his activities and his escape routes.”
First arrested at age 12 for several crimes, including setting fire to Stanwood Middle School, Mr. Harris-Moore had a difficult upbringing on Camano Island. He was raised largely by his mother, who he said could be abusive, according to several news media accounts over the years.

Spain Wins First World Cup

scrubs seasons dvd box setRegulation had spilled into overtime of this fractious game Sunday. The clock was nearly exhausted, as were the players. Soon, the World Cup final would be decided by its harshest verdict, penalty kicks, and skill would give way to nerve and caprice.A record 14 yellow cards and a red would be issued by the English referee Howard Webb. A potentially beautiful game between two elegant teams had turned nasty and destructive. scrubs 1-9 dvd box set
Finally, Spain prevailed, 1-0, over the Netherlands with great patience and an accustomed sense of drama in the 116th minute by the goal-scoring wing Andrés Iniesta, taking its first World Cup title, even if this one will be remembered more for meanness than splendor. scrubs dvd box set
The Dutch intended to take Spain away from its graceful passing game. And they frequently did, sometimes with brutal intent. Still, Spain showed hardness of its own, becoming unnerved at times but never discouraged.
Finally, it prevailed for a fourth consecutive 1-0 victory, displaying resolve, endurance and a flair for white-knuckled theatrics while completing a remarkable turnaround. Spain, the 2008 European champion, became the first team to win a World Cup after losing its opening match, which La Furia Roja had done in stunning fashion to Switzerland. scrubs seasons dvd
“I can’t quite believe it yet,” the diminutive Iniesta said. “It is something absolutely incredible. I simply made a small contribution to a match that was very tough, very rough.” scrubs seasons box set
Essentially, two World Cups ended Sunday, one with Spain winning on the field, the other with South Africa prevailing by most accounts on a referendum about whether it was ready to stage the world’s most popular sporting event.
For years, rumors persisted that FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, would move the World Cup, concerned that South Africa was not equipped to handle matters of security and logistics 16 years after the dismantling of apartheid.
But those concerns proved largely unfounded. The stadiums were built, nearly full and free of violence. Outside, crime did not become a major headline-grabbing factor. scrubs dvd set
“Organizationally, it has been a great success,” said Sunil Gulati, the president of the United States Soccer Federation and an economist at Columbia University. “All the concerns people had about Africa were dispelled.”
Jacob Zuma, South Africa’s president, said on Saturday, “The world has seen this country in a different light.” scrubs seasons 1-9 dvd
Danny Jordaan, the chief World Cup organizer, said that the tournament had brought pride, unity, self-assurance and the sharing of a vision to South Africa, adding, “The nation has crossed a huge psychological barrier.”
Yet it remains unclear just how thoroughly South Africa was able to project itself internationally as a modern, technologically advanced, democratic and tourist-welcoming nation, said Peter Alegi, a visiting Fulbright scholar at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban and an associate professor of history at Michigan State University.
In some places, anecdotal evidence indicated that the country was portrayed as just another soccer host or in the stereotypical African safari image, he said.
“South Africa saw this as very much a political project, even more so than an economic one,” Alegi said. “The verdict is still out on whether brand South Africa sold around the world.” scrubs box set
Even as the World Cup ended, debate continued about whether it was worth spending about $5.4 billion to put on a soccer tournament when some of the stadiums were likely to become white elephants and there was hardly any system in place for youth development in sports. scrubs dvd

“It was a waste of money,” said Marcus Solomon, who spent 10 years as a political prisoner on Robben Island during apartheid and who later founded a youth center in Cape Town. scrubs on dvds
A kind of hangover is expected in South Africa on Monday now that the World Cup is over. And an urgent question is already being raised: what happens next in a country where millions do not have adequate housing, electricity or running water, and half of the population lives at or below the poverty line?
Some fear a return of the xenophobia that led to violent attacks on foreigners two years ago. The plight of the poor must be addressed, The Times of Johannesburg wrote in an editorial Sunday, saying, “Freedom will forever remain elusive as long as they continue to witness the rich getting richer while their situation is rapidly deteriorating.” scrubs seasons 1-9 box set

A Flick of the Head, a Nod to the Past

grey's anatomy dvd Though simply saying “The Dutch” will bring a smile to the lips of many a lifelong soccer fan, the reality is that the Dutch have made a national rule of faltering in the decisive phases of the World Cup. They have been perennial fan favorites with their orange colors and their flashy players and their legacy with the catchy name: Total Football. But for all the Ruud Gullits and Marco van Bastens and Dennis Bergkamps they have fielded through the years, they have not been in a World Cup final since 1978. grey's anatomy seasons dvd
That paradoxical state of affairs ended Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over Uruguay in a South African city the Dutch helped build. It ended with a three-minute flurry of ball movement and scoring in the second half in which this Dutch team’s stars lived up to their name recognition: with the playmaker Wesley Sneijder manufacturing a goal in the 70th minute with a firm shot through heavy traffic and with left wing Dirk Kuyt setting up the next goal in the 73rd with a cross that Arjen Robben headed off the inside of the left post.
That collective burst of creative energy pried open a semifinal that had been as tight as a clenched fist, with Uruguay’s industrious midfielders sealing off the spaces and winning the bulk of the duels. grey's anatomy box set
The Uruguayans, true to their spirit throughout this competition, did not go quietly, even with a lineup deeply diminished by injuries and the suspensions of defender Jorge Fucile and the star striker Luis Suárez. It was Suárez’s deliberate handball on the goal line in the final moments of a quarterfinal match against Ghana that led to his expulsion but also allowed Uruguay to have the chance to win. grey's anatomy dvd set
But there would be no hand of God or Suárez or any other Uruguayan player on Tuesday, and despite a goal in added time from defender Maximiliano Pereira that turned the closing moments into a scramble, the Netherlands held just firm enough to win.
“We survived, and we were just so relieved in the locker room,” said Bert van Marwijk, the silver-haired Dutch coach. “It’s quite something we’ve achieved after 32 years, and it’s something I thought about toward the end on the bench. This is great, but the thing is we’re not there yet.”
The Netherlands and Spain are the strongest soccer nations never to win their sport’s ultimate title. Both are still in contention here in what has turned into a European World Cup after all the early focus on Brazil and Diego Maradona’s Argentina team.
In Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, the Netherlands will face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between Spain and Germany. Whomever wins the final will become the first European team to win the Cup outside of Europe, which is no great surprise considering the generally cool weather and similar time zone has made this competition feel less foreign than usual to Europe’s top teams.
The Netherlands, though not on the list of clear favorites with Brazil and Spain before the tournament, is hardly a shock finalist. It won all its qualifying matches and all six of its matches in South Africa, including one against Brazil in the quarterfinals. grey's anatomy on dvds
Though the Dutch continue to show occasional weakness on their back line and can lose their muse for extended periods, they have an abundance of weapons and a consensus-building coach in van Marwijk. They have clearly been a more explosive team with Robben, the Bayern Munich star, back in the lineup for the knockout round after his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Sneijder has been the most productive team member, however, and his goal on Tuesday was his fifth in the tournament, tying him with the Spanish striker David Villa for the goal-scoring lead. grey's anatomy dvd on sale
But the goal of the night was scored by a Dutchman who scores them rarely: the defender and captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was left free to shoot from about 40 yards in the 18th minute and responded with a beautiful left-footed strike that goalkeeper Fernando Muslera could only graze with his fingertips before it glanced off the post and into the upper right corner of the goal.
Uruguay’s star striker Diego Forlán, one of the top players of the tournament, responded shortly before halftime with a long-range left-footed strike of his own that seemed to fool goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg as it soared over him.
Forlán later came close to giving Uruguay the lead after halftime with a curling free kick over a Dutch wall that forced Stekelenburg to dive quickly to his right. But according to Uruguay Coach Óscar Tabárez, Forlán was playing with an undisclosed injury, and Tabárez substituted for him in the 84th minute.
By then, the Dutch, with Rafael van der Vaart replacing the injured Demy de Zeeuw in midfield for the second half, had already gone on their three-minute run. Sneijder’s goal, like so many in this Cup, generated debate, with Tabárez claiming that striker Robin van Persie was in an offside position when Sneijder struck his shot in van Persie’s direction. buy cheap grey's anatomy dvd
“The second goal I think was decisive because you see it and now you see of course that it was an offside, and that the match could have been different,” Tabárez said. grey's anatomy dvd collection
Back home in Uruguay, Tabárez’s compatriots curtailed office hours and reportedly postponed wedding ceremonies to watch the game. But this Uruguayan team, however valiant, will not equal the performances of the 1930 and 1950 teams that won the World Cup grey's anatomy
The Dutch still have a chance to improve on their history, and they have four days to rest for their nation’s most important game since the 1974 and 1978 finals. The Netherlands lost both to the home team: to Franz Beckenbauer and West Germany in 1974 and to Mario Kempes and Argentina in 1978.
But with their traveling horde of orange-clad fans, the Dutch may feel more like the home team this time. grey's anatomy seasons 1-6 dvd box set

Argentina reels from World Cup defeat

Desperate Housewives seasons dvd box setThe 4-0 loss to Germany is the latest disappointment for South America: Only Uruguay will play in the semifinals. Brazil fell Friday to the Dutch.Desperate Housewives 1-6 dvd box set Graceful in defeat? Try disappointed. Bitter. Depressed.
Argentina's drubbing by Germany in the World Cup quarterfinals Saturday — a day after Brazil was unceremoniously shown the door by the Dutch squad — was a crushing blow to the collective pride in a region where soccer is religion and where expectations of a championship ran high.Desperate Housewives dvd box set
After watching the national team go down, 4-0, to far superior Germany, fans wept openly at the downtown Buenos Aires obelisk where thousands had gathered to view the game on enormous TV screens.
Argentina and Brazil weren't the only countries in mourning. Six South American teams made it into the tournament's second round; only Uruguay will play in the semifinals, on Tuesday against Holland. Desperate Housewives dvd set
But in Argentina, a country obsessed with the sport and with team coach Diego Maradona, the loss hit especially hard.
"I'm bitter and depressed," said 26-year-old secretary Natalia Perazzelli.
"I can't even talk. The World Cup no longer interests me," said Pablo McCormack, 43, a pharmacist. "I feel a huge disappointment." Desperate Housewives seasons dvd
It's been a controversial World Cup. Officials have blown crucial calls but eschewed instant replay. The French team mutinied against its coach and didn't make it to the second round. Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan, formed a special commission to reorganize soccer after the national team failed to win a single game.Desperate Housewives box set
Many Argentine fans took it as an article of faith that their team — led by Maradona, who as a player led the squad to its 1986 World Cup victory but who had no experience as the national coach — would advance to the finals, possibly taking home the coveted trophy.
But as sportswriter Sergio Danishewsky wrote on the Clarin newspaper's website, Germany was so dominant that it stripped the Argentina squad "naked," exposing its "technical disorder…. The Cup is just a memory of what must be learned."Desperate Housewives dvd On Friday, Argentina's neighbor, soccer rival and tournament favorite Brazil, was beaten decisively, 2-1, by the Netherlands, provoking a similar round of soul-searching and second-guessing among soccer-mad fans.Desperate Housewives seasons box set
In Brazil's earlier games, Sao Paulo buzzed with the sound of vuvuzelas, the plastic trumpets that fans in South Africa are tooting throughout the matches. The horns fell silent Friday.
Unlike earlier games, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva did not upload match pictures to his website. He departed Saturday on a state visit to Africa, which he had previously scheduled so he could attend the World Cup final July 11.Desperate Housewives seasons 1-6 dvd box set
So far, the losses by Argentina and Brazil have not prompted national politicians to get into the act. But the disarray of teams in other countries have become affairs of state.Desperate Housewives seasons 1-6
