'Grey's Anatomy' Most DVR'ed Show This Season

As most shows close off their seasons at least for the holiday break, ABC medical dramedy Grey's Anatomy dvd tops the list of programs that people regularly record on their DVR's, with some 3 million viewers added to conventional ratings figures every week.
Other than Grey's Anatomy, the other shows that benefit heavily from delayed viewing via DVR including The Mentalist, NCIS, and House, programs that are notably not doing bad in the ratings department. On the other, in terms of percentage of viewers gained compared to conventional ratings, canceled Dollhouse and Fringe top the list dominated by cable shows. The others include Gossip Girl, Smallville, Melrose Place, and rookie comedy Glee.

NBC comedy The Office has the distinction of being the only show in the top ten of both number of viewers added and percentage gain. Newcomer V, meanwhile, is 4th in the list, with 2.36 mil viewers added to its already decent 14.36 mil figures.
Grey's Anatomy's midseason finale and Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year episode "Holidaze" reeled in 14.07 million viewers, a slight drop from 14.86 mil in the last episode. On the episode, Miranda (Chandra Wilson) got a visit from her father, while Sloan (Eric Dane) had the surprise of a lifetime when her 18-year-old long-lost daughter shows up, pregnant and with nowhere to go. www.dvdorderonline.com

Grey’s Anatomy: Holidaze

Grey's Anatomy This episode chronicles the doctors’ lives over the Thanksgiving-New Year’s Eve holiday stretch. It begins with the Chief tacitly admitting that he’s fallen off the wagon to Meredith. She busted him drinking last week, and he offers to mentor her this week as a passive way of buying her silence. She gives no indication that she sees it that way, but his timing is questionable, in my opinion.
Everyone continues adjusting to the newest doctor, Teddy Altman. She removes a patient’s heart until she can come up with a better treatment solution. The woman was on a date when she became ill, and the guy decides to hang around and wait with her in the hospital, despite not knowing her well. I thought that was very sweet and decent of him. Cristina assures the patient that she’ll probably get a new heart around New Year’s Eve, because there are usually a lot of accidents, which leads to an abundance of organs. That’s a macabre thought.
Family is a big part of the holiday season, and a few of our characters are in for a surprise. Mark finds out he has an 18-year-old daughter named Sloan. grey's anatomy dvd He ends up letting the girl move in, and doesn’t have the heart to give her the boot, especially after she tearfully admits that she’s pregnant and has no place to go. Mark suspected he had a child, but had paid for an abortion for Sloan’s mother and never inquired further about the matter. He probably feels guilty and that letting his daughter live with him for a few months is the least he can do. Meanwhile Bailey’s father comes for a surprise visit. Miranda has kept her divorce a secret from her family, and her father is very displeased when she confirms it. He blames Miranda for the demise of her marriage and the dismantling of her son’s family structure. He fails to see Miranda’s perspective and even calls her out about the situation in front of all of her friends around the dinner table. She finally puts her father in his place and sticks up for herself, saying that her son is happy and so is she.Things have been awkward between Teddy, Cristina and Owen. Teddy admitted to Owen that she was in love with him in the past and wished he had chosen her when he became single. He admitted that he had feelings for her at one point also. Despite all of this Owen remains committed to Cristina, and the two share a devouring embrace, with Owen swallowing up any doubts before Cristina could express them. So much for her hooking up with Dr. Avery.
This episode introduced new conflict and put others to rest. It also laid the groundwork for an explosive revelation about the Chief’s alcoholism. It’s nice to see that the series hasn’t stalled at the midway point, and I’ve come to expect nothing less than great storytelling from Shonda Rhimes. www.dvdorderonline.com

New Moon turns new page

Before I even begin my review of the second movie in the Twilight saga, I'd like to admit outright that I expected this movie to suck. Here's why. I read all four books, and while I enjoyed the story, I believe that Stephanie Meyer is a terrible writer. Her writing style is uneven, and many of the characters are two-dimensional. I feel like that series is a great idea, but would have been handled better by another writer. Thus I was excited to see the first film, hoping someone had fixed her mistakes. Sadly, I was disappointed. The entire thing felt poorly executed, capturing the book exactly. Add to that, even fans of the series have trouble getting through that overly depressing second book (until Edward comes back), and I almost didn't even make the trip to the theater this weekend.
Boy am I glad that I did. New Moon was fantastic! Kristen Stewart proved her acting chops, making me regret doubting her as Bella. Taylor Lautner similarly delivered as Jacob, showing that he did not need a recast. A slightly expanded role for the wonderful Billy Burke as Charlie was welcome, and I delighted when Ashley Greene's Alice returned near the end. I wish there were more of the vampires, especially Rachelle Lefevre and Elizabeth Reaser, who proved themselves to be quite capable in What About Brian? and Grey's Anatomy dvd, respectively. The action was great, the effects flowed seamlessly, and the story didn't drag like the book did. Bella's moping was done artistically, instead of torturing the viewer.
I did, however, figure out what was wrong with the first movie, and this is going to be a very unpopular revelation. It's Robert Pattinson as Edward. He was wooden and lacked chemistry with any of the other actors during his thankfully abbreviated screen time. I now realize it was his fault the first movie was so bad, as Kristen can act when taken away from his talent-sucking pout. I am strongly against recasting movies, but I beg the producers to reconsider in this case, although I know they won't. Perhaps Robert could enroll in some acting classes? Or simply be tutored by a few of his costars, each one a worthy teacher? New Moon was a great piece of cinema, but I worry about the upcoming sequels if Edward remains unchanged. I know that's the point of his character, but come on! Learn from your success. grey's anatomy
