Tonight on Vampire Diaries

Happy birthday to you takes on all new meaning when you’ve had more than 162 of them. Stefan’s got a surprise coming his way in the form of Arielle Kebbel who played Jared Padalecki’s young wife Lindsay on Gilmore Girls.
On his birthday, Stefan (Paul Wesley) is surprised by a visit from Lexi, (guest star Arielle Kebble, “Gilmore Girls”), one of his oldest friends. Still upset by the events at the Halloween haunted house, Elena (Nina Dobrev) does her best to stay away from Stefan, but Lexi gives her some unsolicited relationship advice. Elena and Jenna (Sara Canning) are surprised by a change in Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) behavior.
At Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) insistence, Caroline (Candice Accola) tries to get his medallion back from Bonnie (Katerina Graham). Finally, Damon’s offer to help Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) has sudden and tragic results.
Zach Roerig also stars. Rick Bota directed the episode written by Barbie Kligman & Gabrielle Stanton (#107).

Singer-songwriter to perform, talk to high school students
The artist, who lives in Los Angeles, has been touring the country for a year, during which she's played at schools, graduation parties and summer camps. This will be her first appearance in Ohio.
Kuney said students seem to respond to her music, which she describes as "Fiona Apple meets Norah Jones meets Sarah McLachlan."
"I feel like I really connect with the kids because I feel that a lot of time they're overlooked," the 24-year-old said. "It's interesting to see. When they hear my songs they perk up."
According to teacher Jim Boardwine, students enrolled in English, journalism, songwriting and pop music classes, which account for about half of the high school's 750 students, will attend. Kuney is scheduled to perform three times during the school day at the Poetry Slam, an all-day event when students and teachers can read poetry and other literary works. gilmore girls dvd

Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson’s cinematic swansong This Is It is currently packing ‘em in worldwide. We caught up with director Kenny Ortega to see how the project came about, hear about the trust Michael Jackson had for him, and offer him the opportunity to defend the film against the cynics. And you can read the interview.Interestingly enough, Ortega – whose other directing credits include TVs “Gilmore Girls” and “Hocus Pocus” – said he and Jackson were about to work on a couple of films, one of them a full-length “Thriller” movie.
“Yeah, we were going to do a couple of films. Before we even knew that we were going to do This Is It, Michael and I were already in the early development stages in talking about doing a Legs Diamond musical and a full length 3-D Thriller motion picture. He wanted to pull the plug on his live performing because he said, ‘I don’t want to be out there doing it when I can’t do it with the integrity that I’m known for. However, let’s make movies and great albums and develop projects together.’ So he was excited about so much. He had so much more in him still.’’
Ortega, who recently walked from Paramount’s “Footloose” remake, says he also has no plans to return to the “High School Musical” franchise.
‘’I’m not going to do High School Musical 4 but I hear that they might be doing an all new cast, all new.’’

Halloween Festival
Stormy skies and pouring rain added to the haunting atmosphere of the village's first Halloween Festival
Although organizer Anita Boyer was sure the weather hurt attendance, she was happy to see people having a good time and enjoying the activities.
"The weather has not been our friend," Boyer said as she set up the silent auction table. "The weather, I know, kept people away. We had to hold off (activities) because of the rain."
Boyer got her inspiration for the festival from watching "Gilmore Girls." On the show, the girls conducted a festival every month with few if any problems.
"It's always easier on TV," Boyer laughed. "I just thought it would be something fun for the community, not just tourists."
A popular event with eight contestants was the Hot Dog Eating Contest. A plate filled with 10 frankfurters in buns was placed in front of each participant. The person who could finish all 10 first or the most in five minutes was the winner.
Different techniques were used. One person ate two hot dogs at a time. Another sipped water between bites. The winner, Patrick Hatfield, of Conesville, polished off six in the allotted five minutes.
Hatfield won a festival T-shirt for his efforts. He has entered other eating contests and has won a watermelon eating contest in Columbus in the past.
